1.2% of Black entrepreneurs receive startup capital.
Creative entrepreneurs who identify as Black or Latinx, make 67% less than their white counterparts.
By 2053, Black wealth will be at 0.
Hopefully those numbers make you uncomfortable. It’s time for change.
With our newest effort Indie Creator Fund, we want to help Black entrepreneurs and freelancers start, scale, and sustain their businesses by covering the expenses that cripple us the most. By covering the cost of corporate filing, general liability insurance, equipment, rent for a brick and mortar, and more- we’ll get more founders of color across creative and tech industries operating and keep us there.
And we’ll do that with out efforts of raising and reinvesting 3 million dollars into underserved creatives by the end of 2023.
Indie Creator Fund is an equity free grant program. There’s no repayment plan. No hidden terms. No sales revenue requirement. That means freelance designers who dream of opening a creative studio to serve brands, have the same opportunity at funding as the owner of a health tech app. We commit to giving away 100% of profits from our fundraising efforts to businesses in need. When we say for us by us, this is what we man.
Grant Applications for the first cohort has closed and another round will reopen soon. Please subscribe to our mailing list for updates.
